The Lotus-Eyed One

She holds the fragile beauty of an autumn day
On the brink of being blown away
By Winter’s bone chilling breath.
The last reign before coldness settles in,
Wrapping Earth with her warm, brilliant color.
Her delicate petals shedding like loose, falling lashes,
Making a wish for life to spring up anew.
Then, brimming with unyielding determination,
She surges up through the depths of Nature’s womb
With strong stems bearing beautiful blossoms,
And she winks at the waning, winter sun
With wide-eyed wisdom of what’s to come.
